Inclusive Reporters
The Inclusive Reporters of Special Olympics Germany (SOD) and the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) will be joined by experienced mentors to cover the Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023. The project is about collaboration between people with and without disabilities on storytelling.
Background
After the successful start of the project at the National Games in Hanover in 2016, the project was continued and steadily developed during the last National Summer Games and Winter Games. The Inclusive Editorial Team will also be involved in media work in the run-up to the Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023.
Professional journalists from media outlets will share their experiences and tips in workshops and network meetings. Workplaces will be made available in the Main Media Center of Berlin 2023 and volunteers will support the project.
Goals
The project is about visibility and the promotion of inclusion in media. Together, all participants aim to contribute to a changed perception of people with intellectual disabilities and help to tell the inspiring stories of the athletes.
Ideally, the existing inclusive editorial teams will be motivated to continue the work and new partnerships and tandem teams will be established.
Partners
The project is carried out in cooperation with several partners. Priority is given to cooperation with institutions for the disabled and to media partners.
